We are here to assist you in adapting to climate change and other major environmental challenges in efficient and sustainable ways.
The Centre for Sustainable Environments involves a dedicated team of specialists from the University of Bradford developing the knowledge and capabilities that will enable more sustainable environments to be created. Based within the Schools of Engineering, Design and Technology, Social and International Studies and Life Sciences, the Centre's internationally renowned scientists collaborate to meet contemporary environmental challenges. Adopting an inter-disciplinary approach that integrates technological, organisational and societal solutions is fundamental to the Centre's ethos and is at the heart of everything we do.
Rather than aspiring to be a 'one-stop-shop' for all sustainability solutions, the Centre's specific strengths lie in providing bespoke 'integrated solutions' in the fields of sustainable structures, planning and governance in both developed and developing economies, hydrology, urban policy, acoustics and strategic environmental management. Whether you are engaged with the sustainability agenda as an industrial practitioner, public sector strategist, consultant, potential PhD student or future academic partner, we encourage you to draw on this resource and to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss how we can help you meet your individual needs.
The Steel Construction Industry together with Professor Dennis Lam of the BCSE and the Universities of Stuttgart and Luxembourg and Arcelor Mittal, have won an EU project aimed at developing more efficient shear connection rules for modern long span construction. A key part of the project is to test composite beams with shear connection that are lower than currently permitted by Eurocode 4. A seminar that is timed to coincide with the load test of a 15m composite cellular beam, will be held at the University of Bradford on October 15th 2013.
